Last Thursday night Truth Seeker asked our Overlord Night Rider 7 to participate in an eight on eight challenge against the TTL Gunslingers. Here is his account of the games uncut and uncensored (as if that makes any difference).

When Tru7h Seeker asked me to participate in the clan challenge I was a bit surprised, but I couldn't turn down the opportunity to play with our allies against a clan as notorious as the Gunslingers. Those Gunslingers are some of the highest quality gamers you'll find on Halo 2 and the proof is in their sportsmanship.
The first game was a King of the Hill variant called "Low Hill" on Waterworks. Every man on your team must get one minute of time for team to win. This was an eight on eight clanmatch so the game was intense. Both sides fought long and hard and it was obvious to me that them Gunslingers had prepared for this game. I noticed some good team patterns and hill protection strategies that gave us a run for our money. The game came down to the very end with our team winning by ten seconds.

For the second game we played a matchmaking classic: 1 Flag CTF on Headlong. Four rounds of complete carnage later we pulled the second win, just so you know one of the flags took about ten minutes to capture. Those Gunslingers dealt out so much lead, it wasn't until they ran out of ammo that we were able to pry the flag from their hands. Game two had some of the longest, most difficult captures I've ever played.

For the third game we chose Oddball on Lockout, my only regret here is that it didn't last very long. I don't even know what happened. Personally I'll be choosing the "Low Ball" variant for future matches simply because their is so much more emphasis on teamwork and it's more fun all around.

The fourth game found us on Sanctuary for Multi Flag. The Gunslingers drew first blood and scored after what seemed like a five minute standstill, but after that it was all Sword of Laban. Daveastat1on and Blue Steel Esq did what I couldn't do (which was making it to the TTL side of the map alive) and pulled the flag out three times for the win. Another hard fought game that was a complete blast, playing eight on eight custom games with the Gunslingers is a pure joy.

Our fifth and final game was handed to me because we wanted some Warthog action, let's just say my gametypes were a bit off. For the first try I modified my Pure Puma gametype to be a battle rifle start everything would have been fine except we had oversheilds. Playing to one hundred with oversheilds didn't look to appealing so I quickly ended the game and tried a second gametype that I had save on my Xbox for such an occasion. Team Puma was perfect, battle rifles spawns, four gauss hogs and two tanks, the only thing was that bonus points happened to be enabled (there's no way to check it in the quick options). We didn't even notice it until half way through the game, so I left to reconstruct a new gametype from the ground up that would serve our purposes. However the Gunslingers had to go so we were never able to play that last game the way it was meant to be, but just incase I've got a custom gametype called "roadkill" with all the right settings. Oh how I love my warthog.

Anytime you take a large number of high quality, non-cheating, players with good sportsmanship and put them together in Halo 2 you get an incredibly fun mix of chaos and virtual warfare, and last Thursday was no exception. I honestly hope we can reproduce this sometime in the future. To the Sword of Laban; thanks for honoring me with the opportunity to play with all of you. To the Tied The Leader Gunslingers; thanks for the intense competition and awesome night of gaming.
