Going into game one, we were fortunate to know Master Theory's plan for map control. We knew they were going to rush sniper, rockets and center to control the front of our base. In the first ninety seconds of the game; we thwarted their sniper rush, were crushed by their rocket rush, control of the front of our base was lost and we were down two flag captures. Fearing a rout we set up a defensive wall and were able to protect our flag from the offensive onslaught from Master Theory. Unfortunately we were unable to hold them off forever and Master Theory scored the last flag five minutes and thirty four seconds into the game.

The strategy for game two was simple; control laser, control warthog, control map. The game started and both teams rained down grenades on the opposing teams' spawn. Unfortunately Master Theory was able to escape with the laser and shortly after their warthog was on the prowl looking for fresh meat. With control of the map Master Theory pulled away with a substantial lead. We feverishly tried to bring it down, but every attempt was unsuccessful. In the end Master Theory won the game 75-44.

Going into game three we were down 2-0. If we could not at least tie game three, a victory in the match would be out of our reach. Game one and two were chosen by Master Theory, and they clearly played to their strengths. The next three games were our choice, and we decided to target Master Theory's weaknesses by forcing them to improvise strategies for the recently released mythic maps (Citadel, Longshore and Heretic). From the start, game three was a stalemate as both teams vied for control of the coveted skull. The game was neck and neck until the halfway mark when we broke their hold and set up our strategy. From then on the game was in our hands, and with a score of 250-144 we came away with our first win in the match.

In the same fashion as game three, both teams were very evenly matched, with only two kills separating the team’s final kill counts. In round one we were on defense, and for the majority of the round we kept Master Theory at bay. Unfortunately in the last seconds of the match MT was able to escape with our flag and take the lead in game four. As round two began we set out to execute our strategy and tie the game at one a piece. Each of our attempts at a flag grab was either thwarted by Master Theory or by mental mistakes on our part. Fortunately we were able to make a last second flag grab and protect the flag carrier all the way to the capture point. Going into round three the game was tied and we knew full well that we could hold off the Master Theory offensive. With the game on the line we set up a defensive wall which stood successfully till the end of the round. With victory in sight we set out to right our past mistakes and successfully pull off our strategy. At the 30 second mark we successfully infiltrated the Master Theory stronghold and completed the "Warrior Hail Mary." The match was now tied at two games apiece, and an old favorite of ours would decide the victor.

Going into game five we were extremely confident, neutral Assault on Heretic (Miship) is a long time favorite of ours. Unfortunately the Halo 3 version is not the best. In other words, game five could be summed in nine words; bomb grabbed, bomb armed, grenades, bomb planted, and repeat. From theoretical standpoint Neutral Assault on Heretic was a good idea, however, the only way to make it a competitive game is to change the bomb rules to Halo 2 rules. In other words, a five second arm and an instant plant. With a loss in game five, Master Theory won the match 3-2.
We would like to thank Master Theory for the intense and fun series of games. We hope to set up another match in future.
